WADSCO

To specifically cater for the special problems associated with the understanding, development and use of water resources, WATER & DAM SERVICES COMPANY (WADSCO) was organized in 1980 by engineers and specialists with many years of experience in a wide range of services covering the development of water for power, irrigation and water supply for municipal, commercial and domestic purposes. WADSCO, therefore, comprises a team of planners and designers who not only conceptualise, formulate and design but also supervise the construction of water projects, monitor their performance, and provide facility rehabilitation as necessary. WADSCO is thus involved throughout the life of each project, from inception to full service. Of significant interest is the development of Dams which, because of their multi-purpose potential, are increasingly a major factor in Nigeria's national growth and development. Through dams and reservoirs, water can be conveniently tapped for power, irrigation, water supply, recreation, navigation improvement, and fisheries enhancement. Floods can be controlled, and groundwater aquifers recharged. Associated with these projects are several environmental and health effects which must be accorded careful consideration during planning and implementation. WADSCO therefore deems it important that, in harnessing these vital resources, a total commitment is made to keep in focus the full spectrum of implications called into play, to ensure that implementation does not create other unforeseen problems.

Meet Our CEO

Dr. Josephat Kanaya Okoye FNSE, FAEng. is the Executive Chairman of Water & Dam Services Company (WADSCO), bringing over five decades of experience in engineering consultancy to the role. He holds a B.Sc. in Civil Engineering (First Class Honours) from Purdue University, Indiana, USA, as well as an M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Water Resources and Environmental Engineering Science from the prestigious California Institute of Technology (CALTECH), USA.

A distinguished professional, Dr. Okoye is a registered engineer with the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers FNSE, FAEng, and a Registered Professional Engineer in California, USA. He also served as the former President of the Nigerian Committee on Large Dams (NICOLD).

With more than 54 years of global consultancy experience, Dr. Okoye has worked with clients such as the World Bank and the UNDP, contributing to major engineering projects across the USA, Alaska, Canada, Australia, Papua New Guinea, the Philippines, Switzerland, Europe, Cameroon, and Nigeria. He has consistently led multidisciplinary teams in the successful execution of complex engineering studies, designs, and construction supervision projects around

Meet Our General Manager

Edward Uwaoma Ihemebiri is a distinguished Nigerian engineer with over 30 years of experience in the field of water resources development.

He is an accomplished expert in pre-feasibility studies, feasibility studies, detailed design, construction supervision, project management, inspection services, and post-construction monitoring in the areas of water resources development.

Some of his landmark projects include the Challawagorge Dam in Kano, the Gurara Water Transfer Project in FCT, and 3050MW Mambila Hydropower Project in Taraba State.

Dr. Ihemebiri holds a National Diploma in Surveying, a Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering, a Master of Engineering in Water Resources and Environmental Engineering, and a Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Water Resources and Environmental Health Engineering from the Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Owerri, Federal University of Technology Owerri, Federal University of Technology Minna, and the University of Benin respectively.

At various times he worked with Tycol Limited , Bilag Consulting Engineers, and Nalado Nigeria Limited all in Kaduna and currently a General Manager in Water and Dam Services Company.

He is a registered Engineer with the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria, a member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, and the Nigerian Committee on Large Dams, among other professional organizations.
